Luxury skincare brand Murad and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) have announced their partnership in creating a program to protect children from UV rays when playing in public parks.
‘Shade America’, a program that will build shelters and shade structures in playgrounds across the US, will also aim to provide around one million children with shade over the next five years, as well as sun safety education classes.
Hilarie Murad, president of the Murad Family Foundation said of the program, “We are extremely excited about this partnership and also thrilled to be able to create a program that truly supports our mission to help young people lead healthier, happier and more connected lives.”
She continued, “Educating the youth in our community about sun safety is a cause that Murad has been fully committed to and it is something I am personally very passionate about.”
It comes as the AAD has estimated that one in five Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime, therefore the programme is also designed to raise awareness of the need to wear sunscreen and regularly check for suspicious spots.
